This Privacy Policy explains how Layer 1 Capital LLC (“Sarina,” “The Sarina App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the Sarina mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Sarina is a residential-concierge application that connects residents of participating buildings with vetted home-service professionals (such as cleaning). By downloading, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information.
a. Information you provide to us
Account & identity information: your first and last name, phone number, and email address. When you create an account, we verify your phone number using a one-time passcode (OTP) sent by text message.
Residence information: your building, unit number, and related address details (building name, street, city, and ZIP code).
Preferences: your preferred language, the service categories you’re interested in, and your service-matching preferences (for example, whether you prefer a pet-friendly professional).
Referral information: any referral code you use or share.
Communication preferences: your choices about receiving email and text notifications, including whether you opt in to promotional/marketing text messages.
Booking information: details of the services you configure or book, including the service type, schedule, price, and any free-text access instructions you provide (for example, “leave the key at the front desk”). Today, booking details are stored locally on your device.
Communications: information you provide when you contact us for support or otherwise correspond with us.
Payment information: when you pay for a service, your card details are entered into and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, security code, or expiration date; we may receive limited transaction information such as the last four digits of your card, the card brand, and the payment status.
b. Information collected automatically
Authentication data: a secure session token is stored on your device to keep you signed in.
Device and log data: when the app communicates with our backend, standard technical information (such as IP address, device type, operating-system version, and request timestamps) may be processed by our infrastructure providers to deliver and secure the Services.
We do not collect precise geolocation, access your contacts, camera, or photo library, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking software in the app. (See Section 10.)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
Provide the Services — create and manage your account, verify your identity, and confirm your building/residence.
Match you with professionals — use your preferences (language, pet-friendly, and similar) to pair you with suitable service professionals.
Process and manage bookings — configure, schedule, and keep a record of your service requests, including access instructions you provide.
Process payments — charge for the services you book and, through Stripe Connect, remit payment to the participating service professionals, using our payment processor, Stripe.
Communicate with you — send transactional messages (such as verification codes and booking updates) and, if you opt in, promotional messages about resident discounts and building deals.
Improve and secure the Services — maintain, troubleshoot, and protect the Services against fraud, abuse, and security risks.
Comply with the law — meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Understand demand — record interest in service categories that are not yet available in your building so we can prioritize future offerings. Where this is tied to your building rather than to you individually, it is used in aggregate.
3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:
Performance of a contract — to provide the Services you request (e.g., managing your account and bookings).
Consent — for optional activities such as sending you marketing text messages. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Services, and to understand demand, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only as described below:
Service providers / sub-processors. We share information with vendors who process data on our behalf under contract, including:
Supabase — our authentication, database, and backend infrastructure provider, which stores your account, residence, preference, and related data, and delivers verification text messages.
Stripe — our payment processor. We use Stripe and Stripe Connect to process your payments and to remit payments to service professionals. Your card information is collected and handled by Stripe under Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
Service professionals. To fulfill a booking, relevant details (such as your building, unit, schedule, and access instructions) are made available to the assigned professional so they can perform the service.
Building partners. Sarina partners with participating buildings. We may share aggregated or limited information with a building’s management as needed to operate the resident program, consistent with this Policy.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Sarina, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
With your direction or consent. We may share information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.
As our Services evolve, we may engage additional service providers. We will update this Policy to reflect any such changes.
5. SMS / Text Messaging
Transactional messages. We send a one-time passcode by text message to verify your phone number when you sign in. These messages are necessary to use the Services.
Marketing messages. During onboarding you can choose whether to opt in to promotional text messages about resident-only discounts and building deals. If we send such messages, we will only send them to residents who have opted in.
Rates. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
Opting out. You can opt out of marketing texts at any time by replying STOP to a marketing message or by updating your notification preferences in the app. Opting out of marketing texts does not stop transactional messages needed to operate your account. Reply HELP for help.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If your account remains inactive for one (1) year, we will delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we are required to retain it longer to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Booking records stored locally on your device remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.
7. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls (row-level security) that restrict each user’s data to their own authenticated account. Your authentication session and locally stored booking data are kept on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights described below. To exercise any right, contact us at support@sarinaapp.com (see Section 13). We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
a. California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
Categories of personal information we collect, corresponding to the CCPA:
Services configured or booked, transaction records
Internet/network activity
Technical/log data from app requests
Geolocation data
Coarse location inferred from IP only; no precise location
Inferences
Service preferences (e.g., language, pet-friendly)
We collect these for the business purposes described in Section 2. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We do not sell or share personal information of any consumer, including minors under 16.
b. EEA / United Kingdom (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; erase data (“right to be forgotten”); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
International transfers are addressed in Section 11.
c. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to: confirm whether we process your personal data; access, correct, and delete it; obtain a portable copy; and opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@sarinaapp.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; we will inform you of the outcome and, where applicable, how to contact your state attorney general.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@sarinaapp.com and we will delete it.
10. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
The Sarina mobile app does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers and does not use advertising cookies. The app stores limited data on your device (an authentication session token and your local booking records) solely to operate the Services. If we offer a web version of the Services, it may use strictly necessary cookies to function; we will update this Policy if we introduce any non-essential cookies.
11. International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process and store your information in the United States or other countries. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as in-app or by email). Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
